Serving Those who serve our Country
San Diego County has a large military presence and our people have many connections with the local veteran population. DLA Piper’s San Diego offices are launching a new signature project, Serving those who Serve Our Country, to support veterans who may find it difficult to resume civilian life. DLA Piper will partner with Veterans’ Village of San Diego, which operates residential and other services for veterans.
We plan to dedicate 5,000 hours of pro bono legal work to the project during each of the next three years. In partnership with the National Veterans Legal Services Program, we will represent veterans seeking help from the federal government, with a particular emphasis on disability claims. We also will represent homeless veterans at Homeless Court and provide general counsel to those attempting to start their own businesses, as well as to nonprofit organizations serving veterans throughout San Diego.
