Home ownership is a rung on the ladder out of poverty. The City of Chicago’s “Choose to Own” Program lets people in public housing put their housing subsidies toward mortgage payments on homes in the city. Most beneficiaries have never owned a home and need assistance in navigating the home-buying process. DLA Piper real estate lawyers in Chicago volunteer to help these individuals through the process.
Thanks to our high level of involvement, we have been asked to train other lawyers to handle such cases and share developed best practice.
