Working to have an impact on law at the highest levels can be one of the most challenging and rewarding parts of a lawyer’s career. DLA Piper’s appellate pro bono lawyers draft and file amicus briefs to various federal circuit courts as well as to the United States Supreme Court.
We recently drafted an amicus curiae brief to the Supreme Court on a touchstone issue of diversity and integration in schools. We represented members of Congress who had supported the Seattle School District and the Jefferson County, Kentucky Board of Education as they defended challenges to the schools’ voluntary efforts to protect school integration.
