Sharing a Harvest
Every day around the world thousands of tons of food are wasted, while people in developed and developing countries go hungry. The DLA Piper commitment to the simple, yet powerful, idea of food banks goes beyond our support of the Global FoodBank Network. In fact, our people volunteer at local food banks in almost every city in the US in which we have an office.
In New York, for instance, DLA Piper teams have been a part of City Harvest’s Street Fleet since 2005, collecting surplus food from our office and local Starbucks and delivering it to St. Paul’s, a community food kitchen. In 2007, the DLA Piper Street Fleet team of 40 lawyers and 30 staff gathered enough food for St. Paul’s to provide breakfast for 16 people every day for a year. Find out more at www.cityharvest.org.
