Keeping it Local

Although we are a global law firm, we also believe that we should play our part in the communities that surround us. An example of this is in the UK, where we have developed strategic partnerships with not for profit organisations in six major cities:

  • We work with Birmingham Settlement which helps the local community in deprived areas through a variety of schemes.
  • In Liverpool we have with been working withTrain2000 since 2006 to provide pro bono advice covering a wide range of issues to women entrepreneurs.
  • In London we work extensively with Highbury Grove School to deliver curriculum focused activity
  • The Salford Foundation in Manchester is helping to raise the aspirations of school children and break down barriers between the city and the community. We provide mentoring to the pupils, in particular advice on careers.
  • We are closely linked to The Cathedral Archer Project in Sheffield, helping to understand and tackle issues relating to homelessness. Our work includes the annual Harvest Appeal where our volunteers collect and sort food which is then handed out to those who need it most.
  • We collaborate with the law students of Strathclyde University’s pro bono clinic to represent those unable to afford legal advice. Our lawyers oversee the students, ensuring the right advice is given.

We are also UK national members of Business in the Community and regularly contribute to the growth of UK city “Cares” projects that provide practical support for local community projects.
