In France, like many countries, there is a lack of opportunity for disadvantaged young people. Resolving this problem requires imaginative thinking and collaboration between education institutions and the private sector. Starting from scratch, DLA Piper in partnership with not for profit partner, Entrepreneur Pour l a Citie and Dassault Systemes and other blue chip companies devised an innovative scheme that is inspiring the creativity of a new generation and helping them to understand the opportunities available in the world of work.

“mobi” 3, now in its 3rd year is a year-long syllabus of professional discovery challenging students to design and market a new mobile phone. We brought together companies such as SFR, Nokia, IBM and Dassault Systems to provide this hands-on business experience. The students work closely with the companies and gain real business experience across a range of disciplines including technology, law, sales, design, manufacturing and marketing.

Ultimately, the students have the chance to pitch products to the panel companies. There is also an opportunity for the companies involved to work with each other in a new way. The scheme has been running successfully for a number of years now and its principles have been adapted for a similar project in Milan (see here)
