Individually and together

There’s no template for a successful CSR strategy. For DLA Piper this means engaging with a global legal services organization with more than 60 offices in 25 countries and nearly 9,000 individuals – each with diverse interests and unique insights.

Our culture of professional entrepreneurship means we approach CSR from a slightly different angle. It’s not in our nature to wait and see what will become accepted best practice. Instead, we like to engage and form strong partnerships to do things differently and innovatively, harnessing our shared aspirations and on-the-ground knowledge.

There are challenges we have to face together as DLA Piper (climate change is the most obvious one). New Perimeter delivers another kind of response to global issues, pulling together skills from across our offices, often taking action in countries where we do not have a presence. There are local issues that need addressing – unemployment, poverty and disadvantage. Our offices have the power to form partnerships and channel resources to help address these issues.

Finally, there are the individual impulses of our people to get involved and take on challenges in the cities and the countries where we work. Encouraging and empowering people to pursue issues they care about improves their career satisfaction, while increasing the effectiveness of our pro bono and community work.
